David Spencer’s Issues & Platform
Put Utah County Citizens First
Utah County families and businesses deserve representation that respects their hard work and their wallets. Massive tax increases, like the recent 48% hike impacting residents and businesses, don’t strengthen our economy, or help families, they choke them. Just like our families and small businesses, government must live within its means and be held to the same standard of fiscal responsibility.
Defend Community Character
David has a proven record of standing firm against irresponsible high density housing proposals that did not align with neighborhood character, or would destroy local business while supporting thoughtful development that strengthens existing communities.Rebalanced Vision
As a councilman, David led out on efforts to remove more than 10,000 high density apartment units from long range plans, redirecting growth toward business development, office space, and family friendly uses.Planning With Purpose
David was a champion of neighborhood specific planning that respects local input, preserves quality of life, and guides growth responsibly.
Create a Strategy & Innovation Department
David will establish a Strategy and Innovation Department tasked with conducting deep-dive reviews of every county department to identify inefficiencies, reduce waste, and modernize operations. This team will aggressively pursue state and federal grants to offset costs and save taxpayer dollars, instead of defaulting to tax increases.
Real Transparency, Not Lip Service
Government should be an open book. David will launch a public Transparency Portal so citizens can clearly see:
What each department is doing
How tax dollars are being spent
How commissioners are voting
Sunlight builds trust. Transparency deters corruption. Citizens deserve both.
A County “Connect” Portal for Citizen Engagement
David will create a County Connect App and Portal where residents can:
File complaints or concerns
Track responses and follow-up
Hold government accountable
Every issue matters, and every citizen deserves a response. Accountability shouldn’t depend on who you know.
Control Government Costs & Hold Leadership Accountable
Elected officials know their compensation when they take office. Over the last five years, commissioner salaries increased from $117,000 to $170,300 while families faced higher costs and higher taxes. I will fight to control government costs, protect taxpayers, and ensure leadership reflects the financial realities of the people they serve.
